Pep Guardiola has expressed confidence in Jack Grealish’s ability to regain his best form next season despite recent links to Bayern Munich. Grealish, who played a key role in Manchester City’s historic fourth consecutive Premier League title win, has seen his position challenged by Jeremy Doku. In the FA Cup final, Doku scored as a substitute, while Grealish remained on the bench in City’s shock 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley.
Guardiola remains optimistic about Grealish’s future at the club. “He will be back,” Guardiola stated. “He’s struggled this season and Jeremy has made an incredible step forward as everyone has seen in the last games. But Jack will be back at the level of last season, I’m pretty sure.”
Rumors have circulated about a potential summer transfer for Grealish, with Bayern Munich reportedly interested if Vincent Kompany takes over as their manager. Kompany, a known admirer of Grealish, could lure him to Bayern, especially with the prospect of playing alongside Harry Kane. Grealish joined City from Aston Villa for £100 million in August 2021.
Reflecting on City’s recent Premier League triumph, Grealish told talkSPORT, “Leaving Villa was one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make. I wanted to win stuff, and fortunately, we’ve won a lot. The Premier League was the main one I wanted to win, being from England and growing up here. To win three in a row is just unbelievable. When I signed here, I didn’t think I was gonna win three in a row, but it has been unbelievable. I don’t take any of it for granted and hopefully, there is more to come.”
Regarding City’s chances for next season, Grealish added, “We probably are [favorites] at the moment, especially with the players that we have and the main thing – the manager. But listen, there are so many top teams in my opinion. It’ll be difficult but fingers crossed.”
