Lamine Yamal’s goal was a standout moment, with the teenage midfielder expertly finding the top corner from outside the box. France’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan was helpless as the ball hit the inside of the post and ricocheted into the net. Despite the brilliance of the strike, France boss Didier Deschamps described it as “very lucky,” though he acknowledged Yamal’s skill.
“His shot was magnificent,” Deschamps admitted. “He was very lucky, but we shouldn’t take away his credit. We were obviously one too far behind him. The Spanish have many good strikers outside the box. We gave him a little too much freedom.”

Yamal, who is set to celebrate his 17th birthday this weekend, became the youngest player ever to score for his country at the Euros. Additionally, his outstanding performance earned him the Man of the Match award, making him the youngest player to receive such an honor in a UEFA game.

Spain boss Luis de la Fuente praised Yamal’s exceptional talent, likening him to a genius. “We have seen a genius, the product of a genius. He’s a player we have to take care of. I have to give him the advice to keep working with the same humility and keep his feet on the floor,” de la Fuente said.
“He would keep growing but this maturity and attitude at such a young age is like that of a more experienced player. We are lucky he is Spanish and we can enjoy him for many more years.”
Looking Ahead to the Final
Yamal will be aiming to shine again in the final on Sunday as Spain seeks European glory for the first time in 12 years. They will face either England or the Netherlands in Berlin, with Gareth Southgate’s team hoping to reach back-to-back Euro finals for the first time.
