PSG Sporting Director Luis Campos has given reasons why Victor Osimhen wasn’t signed. The longest-running story of the transfer window was Victor Osimhen’s exit from Napoli to Galatasaray.
All summer long, the 25-year-old Nigerian player had doubts about his future. With a €130 million release clause and thoughts of leaving Napoli, only a few teams, like PSG, could be at the negotiating table.
The striker’s preferred destination was thought to be PSG, followed by Chelsea. Osimhen was left out of Napoli’s Serie A team after that deadline-day move to Chelsea fell through. Due to limited alternatives and closed European transfer windows, the striker managed to sign a loan deal with Turkish team Galatasaray. For Osimhen, though, things might have turned out differently if Paris Saint-Germain had chosen to pursue their interest.
Sporting director Luis Campos of Paris Saint-Germain has acknowledged that the team had serious interest in Victor Osimhen this summer but ultimately decided against making a move for him.
In a recent interview, Campos, the club’s sporting director, told reporters that they were considering Osimhen. However, he clarified why they didn’t submit a formal bid to Napoli.
There were plenty of options available to Campos in the striker position, so acquiring one wasn’t absolutely necessary. Although Goncalo Ramos’s (one of their striking options) long-term injury made it necessary, they ultimately decided they had enough cover and could live without a big-name signing in the position this summer.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Luis Campos told Sportitalia, “Osimhen was considered as one of the options, but we never sent any bid. We were very satisfied with Gonçalo Ramos, Kolo Muani, and Marcos Asensio.”
Osimhen has arrived at Galatasaray on a season-long temporary loan. He returned to training with his teammates this week after an international break with the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He put his name on the score sheet with an incredible strike against Benin Republic during the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, where Nigeria won 3–0.
