Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe suffers thigh injury ahead of Atletico Derby

Kylian Mbappe, a forward for Real Madrid, will miss some time due to a thigh injury. The France international, whose contract with Paris St-Germain expired in the summer, scored Tuesday in a 3-2 victory over Deportivo Alaves before being replaced after 80 minutes.

Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, stated following the match: “He’s fine, a little overloaded. He asked me for the change to avoid problems.”

Following tests, Madrid announced in a Wednesday update that the 25-year-old “has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg” and that “his progress will be monitored.”

Before the October international break, Real Madrid plays away at Atletico Madrid in a league match on Sunday. After that, they play Villarreal in the Spanish top flight and Lille in the Champions League. Prior to his injury, Mbappe had six goals in seven appearances for the Bernabeu team.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti will likely suffer a great loss with Mbappe out of the picture because the Frenchman has been instrumental in Real Madrid’s runs for both La Liga and the Champions League this year. Now that the 25-year-old is out of the picture, Ancelotti must reorganize his attack, particularly with the crucial derby against Atletico Madrid set for September 30.

The absence of Mbappe would put Real Madrid’s depth to the test, particularly in a game as important as the derby. With few options to replace Mbappe, Ancelotti might have to rely on bench players or tactical changes to cover for the player’s absence. Since Mbappe’s play has been a major factor in the team’s recent victories, the injury also raises questions about the team’s momentum.

Updates regarding Kylian Mbappe’s injury timeline will be eagerly anticipated by Real Madrid supporters. While he gets his team ready for one of the most anticipated games of the season without one of their best players, Ancelotti’s tactical acumen will be put to the test.
