Pogba Set to Sign for Marseille in January

Paul Pogba, the French midfielder and World Cup winner, is reportedly in advanced talks to join Ligue 1 side Marseille in January, following the significant reduction of his four-year suspension to 18 months.

The 31-year-old’s ban, imposed for a doping offence in February, was halved by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after Pogba successfully appealed. CAS ruled that Pogba did not intentionally ingest the banned substance DHEA, clearing him to resume his football career in March 2025.

With his Juventus contract, set to expire in 2026, likely to be terminated, Pogba is poised to become a free agent. Journalist Malick Traore claims Marseille have been in talks with the midfielder for several weeks, and a January move is increasingly likely.

A move to the Stade Velodrome would reunite Pogba with former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood. Additionally, Pogba’s compatriot and friend, Patrice Evra, has publicly endorsed the transfer, urging Marseille to sign the talented midfielder.

Pogba expressed delight at the reduced suspension, stating his relief and eagerness to return to the pitch. He is now focused on regaining fitness ahead of his anticipated return to action.

The development marks a significant turnaround for Pogba, whose career had been put on hold due to the suspension. Marseille, currently competing in Ligue 1, are eager to bolster their squad with Pogba’s experience and skill.

Juventus, meanwhile, are expected to agree to terminate Pogba’s contract, avoiding a prolonged and potentially contentious separation. The Italian giants have been linked to other midfielders, indicating their willingness to move on from Pogba.

As Pogba nears his return to football, Marseille fans are eagerly anticipating the prospect of welcoming the French superstar to their club.
