Chelsea captain Reece James has reportedly offered himself to Barcelona and Benfica, as he struggles to overcome his ongoing injury nightmare.
According to FootballTransfers, James’s agent is in talks with the Spanish and Portuguese giants, with a potential move to a warmer climate mooted as a solution to his recurring muscle injuries.
The 24-year-old England international has yet to play for Chelsea this season, having picked up another hamstring injury in the summer. Last season, he managed just 11 appearances due to various ailments.
James’s injury woes have seen him miss over 100 games for Chelsea in recent years, with hamstring, knee, and muscle issues plaguing his career.
The Chelsea academy product, whose contract runs until 2028, is set to return to first-team training this month. However, his first appearance of the season remains uncertain, with Chelsea’s next match against Liverpool on 20 October.
