Manchester United have joined the pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, potentially setting up a transfer tug-of-war with Real Madrid.
The Canadian full-back, 23, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since last season, but Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg reports that United are now considering a move for the defender, whose contract expires in 2025.
With Luke Shaw sidelined by injury, United are exploring options to bolster their left-back position, and Davies’s impressive performances for Bayern have made him a prime target.
However, United acknowledge that Real Madrid remain favourites to secure Davies’s signature.
Davies has yet to negotiate a new deal with Bayern, and his availability on a free transfer next summer has alerted top clubs across Europe.
For now, Davies remains committed to Bayern and will face Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
