Paul Pogba’s tumultuous tenure at Juventus appears to be nearing its end, following director Cristiano Giuntoli’s revelation that the club has shifted its focus towards other players.
The French midfielder, whose doping ban was reduced to 18 months on appeal, had expressed his desire to revive his career with Juventus in March 2025 and was willing to take a pay cut to facilitate his return. However, Giuntoli’s comments suggest the Serie A giants have moved on.
“Our position is clear. Pogba has been a great player, he has been out for a long time and last year we were forced to invest in other players,” Giuntoli told DAZN ahead of the club’s home match against Lazio. “So now the squad is complete as it is.”
Giuntoli’s statement effectively seals Pogba’s fate, paving the way for his departure from the Turin-based club. Reports had previously emerged suggesting Juventus were seeking an amicable exit route for the midfielder.
Pogba’s impending exit marks the latest twist in his eventful Juventus stint. The 31-year-old rejoined the club in 2021 but has struggled with injuries and controversy, culminating in his doping ban.
Despite this, Pogba’s quality and experience ensure he will not be short of suitors. Potential destinations may include Premier League clubs or other European powerhouses.
Juventus, meanwhile, continue their impressive start to the season, remaining unbeaten in Serie A and climbing to second in the standings. Massimiliano Allegri’s side will face VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The club’s focus on younger talent and alternative midfield options has seemingly diminished Pogba’s importance. As the Frenchman’s Juventus chapter draws to a close, attention turns to his next move.
