Manchester City have made Champions League history, surpassing rivals Manchester United’s unbeaten record with an astonishing 26-match streak without defeat.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United held the record for 15 years, achieved during their 2007-2009 campaign, which included their 2008 Champions League triumph in Moscow. Other clubs, such as Bayern Munich, came close but failed to surpass United’s record.

Haaland’s incredible backheeled volley stole the show after Phil Foden’s early opener. John Stones powered home a header, his second consecutive headed goal. Matheus Nunes sealed the victory with a late penalty.

With the Champions League record secured, Pep Guardiola’s focus shifts to domestic matters. City face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, aiming to carry their European form into the league and pursue a record-breaking fifth consecutive league title.
