Man United Shortlist Xavi as Ten Hag Replacement

Manchester United have reportedly identified former Barcelona boss Xavi as one of their top candidates to succeed Erik ten Hag, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

According to The Mirror, Xavi joins Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim, ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic and Brentford manager Thomas Frank on the Red Devils’ shortlist. United allegedly made contact with Xavi earlier this month, sparking speculation that Ten Hag’s tenure may soon come to an end.

The Dutchman has secured two trophies since taking charge in 2022 but has struggled to propel the team forward despite significant investment in new signings. Minority owners INEOS are rumoured to be seeking his replacement.

Following Thursday’s 1-1 Europa League draw against Fenerbahce, Ten Hag expressed optimism regarding his future: “Injuries hinder our performance and league position. When key players are unavailable, we cannot field our strongest team. We require more consistently available players and collective effort from the coaching staff and players.”

Amidst speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s future, Manchester United face West Ham on Sunday in a Premier League clash between the 12th and 15th-placed teams.
