Haaland’s Workrate Questioned for Man City

Haaland Goal Drought Continues in City’s Loss

Erling Haaland’s struggles continued as Manchester City’s lengthy unbeaten streak in the Premier League came to an abrupt end, with Bournemouth securing a thoroughly deserved 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium. The Norwegian striker, usually prolific in front of goal, toiled throughout the match, unable to find the back of the net and ultimately hitting the woodwork in a frustrating outing.

Pep Guardiola’s side, plagued by an injury crisis, fielded a depleted lineup featuring Josko Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji, and Kyle Walker, who were all previously doubtful. However, Walker’s presence proved ineffective, as he struggled throughout the match, losing his footing and marker on multiple occasions.

Bournemouth capitalised on City’s vulnerabilities, with Milos Kerkez wreaking havoc on the champions’ defence. The electric winger set up Antoine Semenyo’s ninth-minute opener before delivering a devastating blow, racing past Walker and providing the cross for Evanilson’s decisive goal.

City dominated possession but lacked cohesion, with Bournemouth exhibiting a hunger for victory. The Cherries’ relentless pressure left Guardiola’s men reeling, and despite Josko Gvardiol’s powerful header in the 82nd minute, City’s late surge came up short.

Haaland’s woodwork strike and Phil Foden’s injury-time miss sealed City’s fate, marking their second consecutive defeat following their Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham. The loss raises concerns about City’s squad depth and Guardiola’s ability to navigate the challenges ahead.

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth, meanwhile, celebrated a monumental victory, underscoring their growing potential as a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
