Slot Responds to Salah’s Cryptic Message

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has played down concerns over Mohamed Salah’s future, following the Egyptian star’s cryptic social media post that sparked fears of a potential exit.

Salah, whose contract expires in 2025, posted on Instagram after Liverpool’s win over Brighton, expressing gratitude to fans and noting, “No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like.” Many interpreted this as a hint that he may not sign a new deal.

However, Slot has countered speculation, suggesting the media misinterpreted Salah’s message. “You interpreted it in a way that maybe other people don’t,” Slot said. “I don’t look at the Instagram posts of my players. I only talk to them… Mo is in a very good place at the moment.”

Slot’s reassurance comes ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen. Salah, 32, has contributed to over half of Liverpool’s Premier League goals this season, with seven goals and five assists.

As speculation surrounding Salah’s future intensifies, Slot’s comments offer a calming influence. With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also nearing contract renewals, Liverpool’s success this season may hold the key to retaining their elite players.

A potential league title win in Slot’s first season could grant Liverpool a “blank cheque” to secure their top talent, starting with Salah.
