Barcelona are reportedly convinced that Viktor Gyokeres is the ideal candidate to spearhead their attack in the post-Robert Lewandowski era, and are exploring creative strategies to secure the Sporting CP striker’s signature.
Gyokeres’ impressive form has catapulted him to the top of Europe’s most sought-after players, with Barcelona joining Manchester United, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich in the pursuit of the 26-year-old. Sporting CP, however, are expected to demand a hefty fee, with Gyokeres’ release clause standing at €100 million (£83m/$107m).
To make the deal financially viable, Barcelona are considering including young Brazilian talent Vitor Roque, valued at €30 million (£25m/$32m), in the transfer. Additionally, the Catalans hold a 50% sell-on clause for former player Francisco Trincao, currently at Sporting, which could further reduce the overall cost.
Gyokeres’ stock continues to rise, following a blistering start to the Liga Portugal season, where he has scored 16 goals in just 10 games. His recent hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League has only intensified interest from top European clubs.
Barcelona face stiff competition in their pursuit, particularly from Manchester United, who are eager to bolster their forward options under new manager Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils’ hopes are boosted by Amorim’s potential influence in persuading Gyokeres to join.
With the transfer battle heating up, Barcelona will need to act swiftly to secure Gyokeres’ signature and usher in a new era for their attack.
