Manchester United’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres has received a significant boost, courtesy of Harry Kane’s presence at Bayern Munich.
The Swedish striker’s exceptional form, yielding 27 goal contributions in 18 games this season, has captivated top European clubs, including United and Bayern. However, Kane’s prominence in Bayern’s attack may deter Gyokeres from joining the German giants.
Gyokeres, valued at £83 million due to his release clause, might be available for £61 million, sparking a potential bidding war. United’s interest is heightened by their struggles in front of goal, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee yet to find their rhythm.
New manager Ruben Amorim’s arrival, following his successful stint at Sporting, could give United an edge in securing Gyokeres’ services. Football journalist Christian Falk suggests Amorim’s presence may facilitate the transfer.
Bayern, meanwhile, are in no rush to sign Gyokeres, opting to leverage Kane’s form for the next two years. They are considering alternative striking options, including Benjamin Sesko, Omar Marmoush, and Lois Openda.
With Gyokeres poised to dominate the 2025 summer transfer window, United’s immediate needs and Amorim’s influence may propel them ahead of Bayern in the race for the Swedish striker’s signature.
As Gyokeres continues to impress at Sporting, the battle for his services is set to intensify, with United and Bayern locked in a tantalizing transfer tug-of-war.
