Arsenal are reportedly keen to replicate their success with Martin Odegaard by securing a winter loan deal for Real Madrid outcast Arda Guler.
The 19-year-old Turkish prodigy has struggled to break into Los Blancos’ star-studded midfield, accumulating just 307 minutes of first-team football across 12 appearances since joining from Fenerbahce in 2023.
Guler’s limited game time has sparked frustration and speculation about his future, with Arsenal sensing an opportunity to capitalise on the situation.
The Gunners previously signed Odegaard on loan in 2021 before securing a permanent €40 million deal six months later. The Norwegian midfielder has since flourished under Mikel Arteta, becoming Arsenal’s captain.
According to Sport, Arsenal now hope to repeat this success story with Guler, who impressed during Euro 2024. A potential loan move would allow Guler to showcase his creative flair and technical abilities in the Premier League, while giving Arsenal a chance to assess his fit before committing to a long-term deal.
However, Real Madrid view Guler as a potential Galactico and may be reluctant to part ways with the player. With fixtures coming thick and fast, Carlo Ancelotti’s rotation policy may also provide Guler with opportunities to impress.
Arsenal’s interest highlights the club’s proactive approach to strengthening their midfield options, and Guler’s potential move could prove a shrewd addition to Arteta’s squad.
