Lewandowski Shines as Barcelona Beats Brest

Barcelona bounced back from their disappointing 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo in La Liga at the weekend with a convincing 3-0 victory over Brest in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Polish striker Robert Lewandowski made history by becoming only the third player to score 100 goals in the competition, while summer signing Dani Olmo also impressed with a standout performance.

Barcelona dominated possession throughout the match, and it was Lewandowski who opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being fouled by Marco Bizot in the area.

Despite Barca’s dominance, Bizot stood firm in goal, making several impressive saves, including a notable stop from a Fermin Lopez header before the interval.

After the restart, Olmo had an effort cleared off the line, but he eventually found a way through with a fine individual effort, dribbling around his marker and finishing calmly after a cut-back from Gerard Martin.

Barcelona should have added a third with six minutes remaining, but Pablo Torre’s shot from the edge of the box was wild and did not trouble the goalkeeper.

Instead, it was Lewandowski who sealed the victory with a fine strike into the bottom corner in injury-time, bringing up his century of Champions League goals in style.
