Cristiano Ronaldo considered joining Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Juventus before making his blockbuster move to Turin in 2018, according to former Manchester United teammate Patrice Evra. However, the Portuguese superstar allegedly ruled out a potential transfer to Arsenal.
Evra, speaking to RMC Sport, revealed that Ronaldo had serious interest in PSG’s project but ultimately chose Juventus over other suitors, including Chelsea. “Has Cristiano ever wanted to come to PSG? Yes. There was Paris, Arsenal… That was before he signed for Juventus (in 2018). He had Chelsea, Juventus, Paris. He said he would never go to Arsenal. He was interested in the project. You can criticise Cristiano, but he would have adapted. He would have made an effort,” Evra said.
Ronaldo’s glittering career has seen him play for some of the world’s biggest teams, winning nearly every major trophy available. The 39-year-old’s decision to join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia has sparked renewed interest in his future, with Evra’s comments adding another layer to the Ronaldo transfer saga.
While Evra is retired, Ronaldo will return to action for Al-Nassr in early 2025, following his mid-season break.
