Manchester United have been urged to consider selling struggling striker Marcus Rashford in January, with former player Paul Parker labelling his current form as “talent going to waste”. The Red Devils are reportedly prioritising player sales to balance their books, with Rashford’s homegrown status making him a valuable asset.
Rashford, 27, has managed only four goals in 15 Premier League appearances this season, leading to speculation that United are willing to let him go for a discounted £40 million. Parker, a former England international, expressed disappointment over Rashford’s apparent lack of consistency and leadership.
“Any other player, it would have been done and dusted by now,” Parker said. “It’s been going on for too long. Most other players would have been put out of their misery. Rashford’s performances have been underwhelming, and it’s sad to see talent wasted.”
United face financial pressure due to the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and Rashford’s sale would register as pure profit on their financial records. The striker’s recent benching in league matches against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest has sparked questions over his role under manager Ruben Amorim.
Rashford’s future remains uncertain, with United’s next test being a high-stakes derby against Manchester City on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether Amorim will trust Rashford to start in this crucial match.
