Amorim Warns Rashford Must Fight to Get Back Into Man United Team

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has issued a stern warning to Marcus Rashford, urging the forward to “fight” for his place in the starting lineup at Old Trafford. The warning comes after Rashford was dropped for Sunday’s Manchester derby, which United won 2-1 against Pep Guardiola’s struggling side.

Amorim’s decision to leave Rashford out of the squad was a significant one, given the forward’s high wages of £350,000 a week. Reports suggest that United could look to offload Rashford’s salary in January, with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League on the cards.

The United manager stressed that Rashford’s exclusion was not disciplinary, but rather a tactical decision. “You understand for so long we try something with Rash, it doesn’t work,” Amorim said. “Let’s continue to do the same thing or try something different? It’s as simple as that. They have to work hard. Today they trained really hard. Next week, next game, new life… When we want to change a lot of things, when people in the club are losing their jobs, they have to fight for their place in the team.”

United’s victory over City marked a significant turnaround for Amorim’s team, who have been under pressure following a series of inconsistent performances. Rashford’s future at the club remains uncertain, with Amorim’s next teamsheet eagerly anticipated to see if the forward has done enough to force his way back into the squad.

The Red Devils return to action on Thursday in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Tottenham, and Rashford’s inclusion will be closely watched.
