Amorim Outlines Man United Transfer Plams Amid Squad Shake-Up

Man United Signs First Player for Amorim

Manchester United have reportedly completed their first signing under new manager Ruben Amorim, securing the services of Paraguayan teenager Diego Leon. The 17-year-old left-back is set to join the Red Devils in July 2025, when he turns 18, in a deal worth an initial $4 million (£3m) with up to $4m in add-ons.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leon has agreed to leave Cerro Porteno to join United, addressing the club’s long-standing issues at left-back. The position has been plagued by injury problems, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia struggling with fitness issues over the past 18 months.

Leon’s capture may signal a new era of recruitment at Old Trafford under Amorim, who has been linked with reuniting with former Sporting CP players. The Portuguese manager will be hoping to make a positive impact on the pitch, starting with Sunday’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Leon, born in Colonia Yguazu, Paraguay, on April 3, 2007, has already made 21 appearances for Porteno this season, scoring two goals. The youngster is primarily a left-back but can also play as a left wing-back, offering versatility to United’s backline.

As Amorim focuses on securing a victory against Bournemouth, the signing of Leon provides a glimpse into the club’s future plans under the new manager.
