Arsenal Eye Signing Matheus Cunha

Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha in the January transfer window as they seek to bolster their attacking options following Bukayo Saka’s injury. Saka’s setback, which is expected to keep him sidelined for several weeks, has exposed the Gunners’ lack of depth in attack, prompting manager Mikel Arteta to explore reinforcements.

According to The Telegraph, Cunha has emerged as Arsenal’s primary target, with the club impressed by the Brazilian’s performances for Wolves. The 25-year-old has been a rare bright spot for the Midlands club, scoring ten goals and providing four assists in 18 Premier League appearances this season.

However, securing Cunha’s services may prove challenging, as Wolves are unlikely to sanction a mid-season sale, particularly given their own struggles to stay in the Premier League. With Cunha contracted to Wolves until 2026, the club holds significant leverage in any potential negotiations with Arsenal.

Arsenal’s need for attacking reinforcements has been exacerbated by injuries to Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz’s struggles to find form. The Gunners will be hoping to get back into the Premier League title race, but their task has become more daunting without Saka’s creativity and goal-scoring threat. Arsenal’s next match is against Ipswich Town on December 27.
