The Second Coming – David Moyes is Everton’s New Coach

Everton has appointed David Moyes as their Head coach for the second spell, following the sacking of Sean Dyche earlier this week. Moyes, who shot into the limelight in his first spell at Everton which lasted for 11 years between 2002 – 2013, gave the club some of their best memories ever, which included a 4th-place Premier League finish in 2005.

His first spell was abruptly ended when he was appointed by Manchester United in 2013 to replace the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson. He later had a short stint at Real Sociedad before taking the reins at West Ham, guiding them to European places three times and ultimately won the European Conference League in 2023 before leaving the Hammers at the end of last season.

In what seems to be the first major move by the Friedkin Group who recently acquired the club, Everton parted ways with Dyche on Thursday, following an underwhelming season, with the club languishing in 16th place, just a point above the relegation zone.

Former Chelsea Manager, Graham Potter, was heavily linked with the vacant role before eventually replacing Lopetegui as West Ham coach. Moyes’ will kick off his second spell at Everton with a visit of Aston Villa in the Premier League on Wednesday.
