Manchester United are considering a move for AC Milan star Theo Hernandez as they look to strengthen their left-back options under new coach Ruben Amorim.
According to reports, the Red Devils have put the 27-year-old France international on their list of targets for the role. However, they face competition from Bayern Munich, who are also interested in Hernandez as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Hernandez has been a key player for Paulo Fonseca’s Milan, wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Davide Calabria. His impressive form has caught the attention of top European clubs, and United are keen to bring him to Old Trafford to solve their left-back conundrum.
The Red Devils have been plagued by injuries to their left-backs, with Tyrell Malacia making his first appearance in 18 months against Bodo/Glimt, while Luke Shaw featured for the first time this season when he came off the bench against Ipswich on Sunday. As a result, right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have been forced to fill in on the left side.
United’s interest in Hernandez is part of their efforts to bolster their squad under Amorim. The Portuguese coach will have to work with the squad at his disposal before he can bring in reinforcements, with United facing Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
