Real Madrid is set to announce the signing of Kylian Mbappe before Euro 2024, despite the forward’s current contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
The France international remains under contract with the Ligue 1 champions until June 30, but Madrid plans to unveil him as their player beforehand, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, with Real Madrid focused on the upcoming Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, the announcement will not occur this week.
Real Madrid has long pursued the 25-year-old attacker, and his move to the Spanish capital has been anticipated since it was confirmed earlier this year that he would be leaving PSG at the end of the season when his contract expires.
As the football world awaits confirmation of Mbappe’s move to Madrid, there have been concerns that ongoing speculation could disrupt the France squad ahead of Euro 2024. However, head coach Didier Deschamps remains unperturbed.
“[The timing] doesn’t depend on me. [Real Madrid and Mbappe] will decide when to officialize it,” Deschamps said at a press conference. “If possible, I will adapt in relation to the squad and the France national team.”
The former Monaco star will watch as his future team competes for the Champions League trophy this Saturday at Wembley. Following the official announcement of his deal, Mbappe will shift his focus to preparing for Euro 2024 with his Les Bleus teammates.
