Manchester United are reportedly seeking to bolster their attacking options for new manager Ruben Amorim, with two highly-rated Bundesliga forwards emerging as potential targets.
According to Sky Germany, United have identified Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface as key targets for the winter transfer window. The Red Devils are keen to provide Amorim with a strengthened squad as he seeks to turn around the club’s poor start to the season.
United’s struggles in front of goal have been well-documented, with the team scoring just 20 goals in their opening 14 games. The appointment of Amorim as manager is seen as a key step in addressing these issues, and the signing of a top-class forward is viewed as essential to this process.
However, United may face stiff competition for Marmoush’s signature, with Liverpool also reportedly interested in the Egyptian forward. Eintracht Frankfurt are said to be seeking a fee in the region of €60 million (£50.1m/$63m) for Marmoush, although this price tag could rise if United are pulled into a bidding war with Liverpool.
As for Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen are said to value the Nigerian forward highly and may demand a significant fee for his services. United’s financial situation may also impact their ability to sign either Marmoush or Boniface, with the club reportedly facing economic challenges.
Amorim will be keen to strengthen his squad as soon as possible, but it remains to be seen whether United will be able to secure the signings of Marmoush and Boniface in January.
