Antonio Conte Mum on Osimhen’s Future Amid Transfer Speculation

Conte Avoids Definitive Statements on Osimhen

Napoli’s new manager Antonio Conte has refused to make categorical statements about the future of striker Victor Osimhen, despite confirmation that the Nigerian star will leave the former Serie A champions this summer. The 25-year-old Super Eagles forward is seeking a move away from Serie A, but Napoli’s initial €150M release clause has reportedly deterred potential suitors, including Chelsea and Arsenal.

Potential Transfer Adjustments and Financial Strategies

Recent reports suggest that Napoli might lower Osimhen’s valuation to €100M to free up necessary transfer funds for Conte, who is eager to acquire Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku. At his unveiling to the local media, the 54-year-old former Juventus and Inter Milan manager acknowledged Osimhen’s situation but refrained from jumping to conclusions.

Conte’s Remarks on Osimhen’s Status

“As far as Osimhen is concerned, just as I knew very well about the situation of Kvara, Di Lorenzo, Anguissa, Lobotka, on whom I had an absolute veto, I know very well about the Osimhen situation,” Conte, a silver medal winner with Italy at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, reportedly said. “I know that there are agreements with the club, it’s a totally different situation, which I’ll witness. Then if you ask me about the player, he’s a top player, but I can’t get into any discussions about Osimhen because these are previous agreements.”
