Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Edu Gaspar, has acknowledged Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League, praising Pep Guardiola for his exceptional coaching. The race for the league title was intense, with Arsenal and Liverpool also in contention until April, but City’s consistent performance secured them the trophy.
Gaspar highlighted City’s remarkable achievement of going undefeated in the league from December to the end of the season. Despite Arsenal’s strong campaign, dropping points in only two games in 2024, including a draw against City and a loss to Aston Villa, denied them the title. Gaspar expressed pride in Arsenal’s efforts but acknowledged City’s superiority.
While hoping for City to slip up during the season, Gaspar commended Guardiola’s coaching prowess, jokingly wondering if Guardiola could excel even in rugby given his success in football. Gaspar praised Guardiola’s achievements across different countries, acknowledging his outstanding managerial career.
Gaspar also noted the difference in squad depth between Arsenal and City, emphasizing the need for Arsenal to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer window. He believes that with the right signings, Arsenal could challenge City for the title in the 2024/25 season.
