Alvarez Seeks More Playtime
Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez is reportedly frustrated with his secondary role under Pep Guardiola and is considering a move this summer. However, finding a club with the financial capability to secure his transfer is proving to be a challenge.
Atletico Madrid’s Interest
Atletico Madrid has shown interest in Alvarez, having recently contacted his agent. The Spanish club considers Alvarez their ‘dream signing’. However, the stumbling block is the price. According to The Athletic, Manchester City is demanding a €70 million fee plus an additional €20 million in variables for Alvarez’s transfer.
Financial Constraints for Atletico
This price tag is likely beyond Atletico Madrid’s reach. The club has been negotiating over the price of Artem Dovbyk, avoiding his €40 million release clause. With talks progressing positively with Girona for Dovbyk, it seems unlikely that Atletico would spend over €100 million on their forward line this summer. A move for Alvarez appears improbable unless Manchester City lowers their demands or agrees to a loan deal.
