This is my last season at the club – Mohamed Salah Liverpool makes shocking announcement after Reds defeated Man United

After Liverpool defeated Manchester United and maintained their unbeaten record in the Premier League, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool made an unexpected statement.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gave Liverpool the lead after just eight minutes, but the party was short-lived as Salah’s offside position during the build-up resulted in the goal being disallowed. The breakthrough was achieved in the 35th minute when Luis Diaz headed an accurate cross from Salah into an open net.

Seven minutes later, the Colombian doubled his tally by combining with Salah once more. In the 56th minute, after the ball was skillfully released by Dominic Szoboszlai, Salah entered the scoring race against Manchester United, leaving Onana gasping for air.

After the Reds’ thumping 3-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday, Salah said he had treated the match like it was his last at Old Trafford. Salah told reporters after the Manchester United vs. Liverpool game that this would be his final season at Liverpool because he had not received a renewal offer, sending a strong message to the club’s management.

“I had a good summer; I had a long time to work on myself and think positively because, as you know, this is my last year at the club,” Salah told reporters after the match.  “I just want to enjoy it, and I don’t want to think about it. I feel free to play football, and we’ll see what happens next year.

“Heading into the game, I said, ‘Look, this could be the last time. Nobody has spoken to me about a contract, so I’ll play my last season and see at the end of the season. It’s not up to me; it’s up to the club, but we will see.”

The 32-year-old contract situation has been a hot topic of discussion throughout the summer, along with that of Trent Alexander Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk. Each of the three players’ contracts is about to expire. Salah’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season.

Mohamed Salah Liverpool exit fears addressed by Carragher

After staking a strong claim for his future, Jamie Carragher has moved to refute suggestions from Mo Salah that this may be his final season as a Liverpool player, while Roy Keane, the legend of Manchester United, has been forced to make an awkward admission.

While Mohamed Salah has hinted that this may be his last season, Carragher is certain that the Liverpool player can play well into his late 30s and that Anfield is where his future lies.

Carragher said if you look at his records and longevity, he’s on [Cristiano] Ronaldo levels. Most players realize that by the time they are 35, their football careers are over and they are done. Given the way he takes care of himself, I believe he intends to continue playing until he is 40 years old, or at the very least, in his late 30s.

I don’t think a Saudi situation, if you like, is on the cards—Salah’s too good a player. He is representing one of the biggest football clubs in the world and playing in the best league in the world.

Whether he stays this season or two or three more, I believe he will rank among the best players to have played for Liverpool, along with Steven Gerrard and Kenny Dalglish, and perhaps even among the top wingers this league has ever produced.

Salah has been closely associated with a possible transfer to the Saudi Pro League (SPFL), and it is anticipated that he would bring in a sizable sum of money for the SPFL.

The Egyptian player reportedly signed a new three-year contract in July 2022, making him the highest paid player in the club’s history at over £350,000 per week. Last September, Liverpool turned down a £150 million bid for Salah from Al-Ittihad.

Mohamed Salah will be remembered as one of Liverpool’s all-time greats with his amazing record of 214 goals and 92 assists in just 352 games for the Reds.
