Liverpool’s Jota to Miss Arsenal Clash as Chiesa Nears Return

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed Diogo Jota will miss Sunday’s Premier League match against Arsenal due to injury. However, Federico Chiesa is nearing a return to training.

Jota, a crucial player for Liverpool with four goals and two assists in 10 appearances this season, was forced off the pitch early during last weekend’s match against Chelsea. The injury also kept him sidelined for the midweek Champions League encounter with RB Leipzig.

In addition to Jota’s unavailability, Slot revealed that Chiesa may resume training on Friday. “I think they feel good, but not when it comes to playing for us during the weekend,” Slot told reporters. “Federico might train with us today or tomorrow – but Diogo definitely not. And Conor Bradley, let’s see if he can be with us tomorrow.”

Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained against Crystal Palace. Backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped in and will continue as Liverpool’s starting goalkeeper against Arsenal.

Slot commented on Alisson’s condition, “Progressing well, as we expect – not a short-term recovery, so difficult to judge. We’ll judge him at the end phase of his rehab, but not yet. Don’t expect him to be at Brighton in the cup.”

Despite injuries affecting key players, Liverpool have maintained a high level of performance under Slot’s management. Sunday’s matchup against Arsenal presents an opportunity for the Reds to extend their winning form and retain the top spot in the league standings.
