Van Nistelrooy Appointed as Leicester Coach

Leicester City have confirmed the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager, following his departure from Manchester United. The Dutchman, who had a brief stint as United’s interim manager, has signed a contract until 2027 and will take charge of his first game against West Ham on Tuesday.

Van Nistelrooy’s appointment comes after Steve Cooper was sacked as Leicester manager, with the Foxes currently languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table. The 47-year-old former striker will be in attendance when Leicester face Brentford on Saturday, before officially taking the reins on Sunday.

During his interim stint at United, Van Nistelrooy guided the team to two victories over Leicester, beating them in the league and the Carabao Cup. He was subsequently removed from his coaching role by new United manager Ruben Amorim.

Speaking about his appointment, Van Nistelrooy said: “I’m proud, I’m excited. Everybody that I speak to about Leicester City Football Club is enthusiastic. They have great stories about the quality of the people working at the club, the supporters and, of course, the recent history of the club is impressive.”
