Mohamed Salah has set a new Premier League record by scoring and assisting goals in the same match for the 37th time in his career. The Liverpool forward achieved this feat in his side’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United on Wednesday.
Salah played a pivotal role in the match, scoring twice and providing an assist for Curtis Jones’ equaliser. His goals and assist took him past Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 36 matches with a goal and an assist.
The Egyptian star has achieved this feat in an impressive 277 Premier League appearances, 214 fewer games than Rooney, who played 491 top-flight matches. Salah’s record-breaking display also saw him move to the top of the Premier League scoring charts with 13 goals from 14 games.
The 32-year-old’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire this summer. Salah has suggested that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season and has not been offered an extension by the club.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Salah continues to be a key player for Liverpool, and his record-breaking display against Newcastle underlined his importance to the team.
