Kyle Walker has asked to leave Manchester City and end his career abroad. This was revealed by Pep Guardiola after their 8-0 drubbing of Salford City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup yesterday. “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad and end his career” said Pep.
Walker who joined Manchester City in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspurs for a fee of 45 million pounds has enjoyed a stellar career at the Etihad where he has won six Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, and a UEFA Champions League in 2023 as part of a continental treble. He has been named in the PFA Team of the Year four times, in the 2011–12, 2016–17, 2017–18 and 2023–24 seasons.
AC Milan, who are also linked with a move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, are front-runners for Walker’s signature and have already opened talks with the 34-year-old English Right Back to understand the conditions of the deal.
Interest in Walker’s signature persists from Saudi Pro League clubs since last summer as the lure of a big-money career-ending move might be enough to persuade him.
Whatever he decides with his agents, we’re sure of getting it confirmed in the next couple of weeks before the January transfer window shuts.
