Man United Plot New Bid for €100m Quenda

Manchester United are reportedly pushing to secure a transfer deal for Sporting CP’s highly-rated teenager Geovany Quenda as soon as possible.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, United made their approach for the 17-year-old before appointing Ruben Amorim as their new manager. The Red Devils aim to strike a deal in the summer transfer window.

Quenda’s contract extension until 2027, signed in September, includes a staggering €100m (£84m/$105m) release clause, matching teammate Viktor Gyokeres’. Sporting anticipate the forward will be their next major sale, with initial bids expected to exceed €40m (£33m/$42m).

Amorim, who joined United from Sporting earlier this month, downplayed the possibility of signing his former players in January. “I won’t be signing [Sporting players] in January, that’s what I said,” he stated. However, he left the door open for summer moves, saying, “We’ll see.”

Quenda has impressed this season, scoring two goals in 17 appearances. While a departure at the end of the season is possible, United may convince him with a substantial financial offer.

As United look to bolster their squad, securing Quenda’s signature would be a significant coup. With Amorim’s insider knowledge of Sporting’s talent, the Red Devils may have an edge in the pursuit of the teenage sensation.
