Manchester United’s woes continued as they recorded their worst start to a Premier League season in 38 years, following a lacklustre 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have managed just three wins this season, leaving them languishing in 13th position with a meagre 12 points from 10 games. This dismal tally surpasses their previous low of eight points in the 1986-87 season, according to Opta.
The consequences of this poor form were evident, as Erik ten Hag lost his job, making way for incoming manager Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese boss faces an uphill battle to revive United’s fortunes.
Amorim’s task is daunting, especially considering the club’s decade-long decline since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure. Despite receiving endorsement from United’s Bruno Fernandes, Amorim must deliver results quickly to win over the fans.
United’s quest for redemption continues with a Europa League clash against PAOK on Thursday, followed by a Premier League match against relegation-threatened Leicester. Amorim’s first game in charge will take place after the international break, against Ipswich.
With United’s season teetering on the brink, Amorim must act swiftly to salvage their campaign and restore pride at Old Trafford.
