Real Betis Explore Loan Move for Antony

Manchester United’s disappointing signing Antony could be headed for a January exit, with Spanish outfit Real Betis exploring a potential loan move for the 24-year-old.

According to reports from Spanish publication ABC, Betis are sounding out the Red Devils regarding a possible loan deal, which would involve the two clubs sharing Antony’s substantial salary. However, the operation is described as “very difficult”, with Betis potentially needing to offload Assane Diao to facilitate the move.

Antony’s spell at Manchester United has been nothing short of disastrous, with the Brazilian winger managing a paltry 12 goals and five assists in 93 appearances. This season, he has been relegated to the fringes, making just 11 appearances in all competitions, with only three starts in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.

The player’s lack of impact has led to speculation that he may go down as one of United’s worst-ever signings. With his value plummeting, the club may be forced to consider a loan deal or a cut-price sale to offload the misfit.

Antony will hope to get some much-needed game time in United’s final fixture of 2024, when they host Liverpool by weekend. However, with his future at the club hanging in the balance, it remains to be seen whether he will still be a Manchester United player come January.
