Che Adams pulls out of Scotland squad

Che Adams and three others out of Scotland Squad

For Scotland’s Nations League matches against Poland and Portugal, striker Che Adams is out. However, midfielder Connor Barron has received his first call-up. Along with Robby McCrorie, Celtics James Forrest and Greg Taylor follow Torino forward Adams out of the Scotland squad.

Clarke’s options for a center forward in Adams’ absence are Lawrence Shankland, Tommy Conway, and Lyndon Dykes. The 28-year-old Adams began all three of Scotland’s Euro 2024 group matches before joining Torino in Serie A, where he has made four appearances thus far and scored one goal.

According to an update from the Scottish Football Association on Tuesday, left-back Josh Doig of Barron and Sassuolo has been called up from the under-21 squad to provide cover, while McCrorie will be replaced by goalkeeper Jon McCracken of Dundee. Barron was reportedly in line to be included in Steve Clarke’s initial squad announced last week. He moved to Ibrox in the summer after leaving Aberdeen as a free agent.

Barron joined Rangers from Aberdeen and has started six of the team’s seven games this season from the starting line. In Nations League A, Scotland hosts Poland at Hampden on Thursday night before traveling to Portugal on Sunday. Barron and Doig may make their senior debuts at that game.

Three more players have been called up, bringing the total number of players who could make their debut to six, including uncapped players Ryan Gauld, Max Johnston, and Ben Doak
