Spanish giants, Barcelona are prepared to send Ansu Fati out on loan in January, providing they can secure a suitable replacement, Diario Sport reports.
The 21-year-old winger is eager to revive his stagnating career after a disappointing loan stint at Brighton & Hove Albion last season. Barcelona had high hopes for Fati after he stayed put in the summer, having rejected unconvincing proposals from potential suitors. Agent Jorge Mendes had explored alternative destinations, but the financial terms were unappealing to both parties.
However, Fati’s pre-season injury has limited his game time to just 28 minutes this term – 26 of those coming in Barcelona’s 5-0 thrashing of Young Boys, with the Blaugrana already four goals ahead.
Consequently, the Catalan giants have concluded that a loan move for the second half of the campaign would benefit Fati, allowing him to accumulate minutes and regain momentum.
Barcelona’s initial decision to retain Fati was largely driven by their struggles to find an affordable winger within their salary constraints.
The club will reassess Fati’s situation in November, factoring in both sporting and financial considerations. Nevertheless, any potential loan exit hinges on securing a replacement.
Fati’s future remains uncertain, but a January departure could provide the catalyst for his resurgence.
A replacement has been lined up for the youngster, with Barcelona looking at signing Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine winger’s frustrating start to the season, spent largely on the bench, has sparked speculation about his future at Old Trafford.
Also, Garnacho’s contract situation and Ten Hag’s uncertain future have cast doubt on the winger’s long-term prospects at United.
