Amorim Admits Tough Task Ahead at Man United

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged the daunting challenge he faces in implementing his style at the club, particularly with the team in the midst of a hectic season. The Portuguese tactician, who replaced Erik ten Hag, expressed his concerns about the limited training sessions available to him, with United set to play 11 matches in the next five-and-a-half weeks.

“It’s so much harder to come to the team in the middle of the season because you have to get to know the players during the games,” Amorim told a press conference. “You don’t have national team periods to work with the players, it’s just games. If you’re winning, it’s a lot of fun, but if you’re losing, you don’t have time in training to work out everything you want to work on.”

Amorim, who has been praised for his attacking style of play and ability to connect with his players, warned that he will not hesitate to make tough decisions to ensure the team’s success. “I can be ruthless when I have to be,” he said. “If someone is thinking only about themselves, I will be a different person. I’m not that type of guy who wants to show he’s the boss, but they will feel it in the small details.”

The new manager also emphasized the importance of reminding his players of United’s rich history and the need to return to their former heights. “I’m always paying attention to those details, trying to focus the players on the history of the club, not the recent history,” he said. “We have to be very demanding; this is a club that has to win things. We have to show that to our players.”

Amorim’s first game in charge is away to Ipswich Town on Sunday, followed by his Old Trafford debut on Thursday in the Europa League against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. United currently sit 12th in the Premier League, seven points behind the top four.
