Barcelona Bids Farewell to Sergiño Dest

Barcelona’s Summer Shake-Up

As FC Barcelona seeks to reshape its squad, some departures may not be entirely on their terms. With the need to make room, the club is exploring options to part ways with certain players, even in less-than-ideal circumstances.

Dest’s Departure to PSV

In their first sale of the summer, Barcelona has agreed to transfer 23-year-old American fullback Sergiño Dest to Eredivisie side PSV. After a season on loan with the Dutch club, Dest will join PSV permanently on a contract until 2028.

Financial Details of the Transfer

Interestingly, Barcelona will not receive direct financial compensation for Dest. Instead, they secured a sell-on clause, ensuring a percentage of any future transfer revenue from the player.

Dest’s Journey at Barcelona

Dest, who joined Barcelona in 2020, made 72 appearances and won the Copa del Rey. After an unsuccessful loan at AC Milan, he found a temporary home at PSV, where he will now continue his career wearing the number ‘8’ shirt.

With this move, Barcelona continues its effort to comply with financial regulations and aims for a balanced squad as they aspire to return to the 1:1 rule.
