Gary Neville Mock Guardiola After FA Cup Draw

Manchester City have been drawn against Salford City, the League Two side owned by Manchester United’s Class of ’92, in the third round of the FA Cup. The draw has sparked a warning from Salford City co-owner Gary Neville, who has jokingly threatened that City manager Pep Guardiola will get sacked if his side lose to the lower-league outfit.

Manchester City are currently in poor form, having gone seven matches without a win. The defending Premier League champions were convincingly beaten by Liverpool last weekend, with Reds fans mocking Guardiola by chanting that he would get “sacked in the morning” during the match.

Neville echoed the sentiments of the Liverpool fans, saying on X: “He’s getting sacked in the morning @SalfordCityFC.” While Neville’s comment was likely made in jest, it highlights the pressure that Guardiola is under to turn Manchester City’s fortunes around.

The FA Cup tie between Manchester City and Salford City is scheduled to take place on 11 January 2025. While Salford City will be heavy underdogs, they will be hoping to cause a major upset and dump the seven-time FA Cup winners out of the competition.
