Maresca Hails Chelsea Youngsters in Conference Win

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca praised the impressive performances of debutants Josh Acheampong, Tyrique George, and Samuel Rak-Sakyi as the Blues comfortably defeated Astana 3-1 in the Europa Conference League. The win marked Chelsea’s sixth consecutive victory across all competitions.

Maresca made 10 changes to the starting lineup, with Pedro Neto being the only player to have featured in the previous weekend’s match against Tottenham. Despite challenging weather conditions in Kazakhstan, the young Chelsea team delivered an impressive display.

The Italian coach was particularly impressed by Acheampong’s first start for the senior team, as well as George and Rak-Sakyi’s performances. “I was impressed by all of them. The ones that started – Tyrique, Sam, and Josh – they all did very well. Very happy for them. Also, the ones that came on in the second half. So I’m pleased for them,” Maresca said.

Chelsea will next face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, looking to maintain their winning momentum.
