Pedri Forgives Kroos and Vows to Support Spain Despite Injury

Spain’s midfielder Pedri has expressed forgiveness towards Germany’s Toni Kroos for the challenge that ended his Euro 2024 campaign. Pedri sustained a left knee injury early in Spain’s quarterfinal victory over Germany, resulting from a robust tackle by Kroos. Despite the injury, Pedri harbors no ill will towards Kroos, who issued a public apology via Instagram.

“Thank you, Toni Kroos, for your message,” Pedri wrote on social media. “This is soccer, and these things happen. Your career and your record remain forever.”
Acknowledging the Setback
Pedri’s injury forced him off the field in the eighth minute of the match, with Dani Olmo stepping in as his replacement. Spain triumphed over Germany 2-1, thanks to a decisive goal from Mikel Merino in the last minute of extra time, set up by Olmo, who also scored Spain’s opener.

Staying with the Squad
Despite his injury, Pedri has committed to staying with the Spain squad for the remainder of the tournament. Spain faces France in the semifinals on Tuesday, with the final set for five days later against either England or the Netherlands, should Spain progress.
“I came to Germany for Euro 2024 and I will continue here until the end. Because, do not doubt it, the dream continues,” Pedri affirmed.

Looking Forward
Pedri remains optimistic about his recovery and future contributions to both Spain and his club, Barcelona. “This week it’s time to encourage and contribute in another way to this great family that is Spain. Their support and that of all of you is incredible. The hardest moment has passed, and the road back has already started, to soon be at full strength with Barcelona,” he concluded.
