Saka ‘Speechless’ by Arsenal Captaincy Honour

Arsenal’s rising star Bukayo Saka has revealed his immense pride after being entrusted with the captain’s armband, describing the experience as leaving him “speechless”.
The 23-year-old England international stepped up to lead the Gunners in their crucial Premier League clash with Manchester City and Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, filling in for injured skipper Martin Odegaard.
In an exclusive interview with CBS Sports, Saka reflected on his reaction to Mikel Arteta’s request: “That’s one of the things where I become speechless when people ask me. Everyone knows my journey, where I came from. To take the captain’s armband, walk the lads out at the Emirates Stadium. I can’t put it into words.”
Saka’s remarkable rise through the Arsenal ranks has earned him 236 appearances and the coveted No.7 jersey. He acknowledged the significance of inspiring fans worldwide: “When the new kits come out you see it across all of London. I’m always looking out to see if someone has my number on. It’s always a nice feeling when you see a little kid or an older man wearing one of my shirts. I never take it for granted and if I can give them a bit of my time, a bit of love back to them, I’ll try to do that too.”
The talented winger has registered three goals for Arsenal this season and will next face Bournemouth on October 19, preceded by England’s UEFA Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland.
