The Champions League game got under way on Tuesday, with Liverpool, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Sporting CP all starting their first match with a win.
Liverpool successfully recovered from their shocking loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday by winning resoundingly at AC Milan in the Champions League.
Christian Pulisic, an AC Milan winger, stunned the Reds within three minutes of the break with a driven effort across goal. However, Arne Slot’s team rallied with a commanding display, and in the 23rd minute, defender Ibrahima Konate leveled the score with a stooping header from Trent Alexander-Arnold Freekick after Mohamed Salah had struck the crossbar.
Shortly before halftime, Virgil van Dijk completed the comeback with a close-range header after Konstantinos Tsimikas’ corner was met by Salah once more. Cody Gakpo completed an incredible run in the 67th minute by squaring the ball to Dominik Szoboszlai for a tap-in to seal the victory.
Harry Kane nets four to help Bayern Munich destroy Dinamo Zagreb
Harry Kane of Bayern Munich destroyed Dinamo Zagreb with four goals to become the highest-scoring Englishman in Champions League or European Cup history. Kane’s penalty, which sent goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic the wrong way, gave Bayern the lead after Aleksandar Pavlovic was fouled.
Raphael Guerreiro scored an incredible halfvolley, and thereafter Olise, the summer transfer from Crystal Palace, headed in Joshua Kimmich’s cross. At the half, Bayern substituted Sven Ulrich for the injured Manuel Neuer. However, in just five minutes, he gave up two goals without even touching the ball; Takuya Ogiwara and Bruno Petkovic beat him to make it 3-2.
However, Bayern regained control, with Kane scoring off a rebound after Kimmich’s shot was saved and Olise found an empty net. The video assistant referee made a questionable handball call, which allowed England’s Kane to score his second spotkick. And after Alphonso Davies was fouled, he scored a hat-trick of penalty kicks and his fourth goal of the game.
Leroy Sane, who had been on the bench, blasted one from twenty yards out, and Leon Goretzka headed in their ninth goal.
Aston Villa claims victory over Swiss champions Young Boys in the Champions League Game
After a 41-year hiatus, Aston Villa made their way back to the top club competition in European football with a well-earned victory over Swiss champions Young Boys. Youri Tielemans put Unai Emery’s team ahead with a driven finish into the far corner to cap off a well-executed corner routine.
The home team’s terrible defending allowed Villa to score a second goal, as Ollie Watkins stopped Mohamed Ali Camara’s pass to goalkeeper David von Ballmoos, and Jacob Ramsey scored off the inside of the post.
Amadou Onana, a Belgian midfielder, sealed a comfortable evening for Emery’s team with a minimal effort in the 86th minute.
