Manchester United’s interim manager, Ruben Amorim, has outlined his plans for the club’s future, amidst reports that half of the squad is open to offers. Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag just a month ago, has revealed his transfer strategy, prioritising the development of existing players and academy talent.
The 39-year-old Portuguese coach stressed the importance of understanding his current squad and leveraging the club’s academy before making external signings. Amorim acknowledged the need for careful profiling and management of the transfer process.
“We need to focus on what we have, the academy and clear profiles of players we want to bring in,” Amorim explained. “Every detail counts, and we must be very clear on our approach. We have international players, good players, and we need time to teach our idea.”
Amorim’s comments suggest a cautious approach, acknowledging the challenges of rebuilding a team. He highlighted the pressure on the club, stating, “If you don’t win, the coach goes, the players go. We have to improve as a team, arrange a lot of things in our club before thinking about buying or selling players.”
United’s rebuild plans are reportedly being driven by club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group, who are planning a significant overhaul in the next transfer windows.
The Red Devils will look to bounce back from consecutive Premier League defeats when they face Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday. Can Amorim’s strategy yield positive results for Manchester United?
